The Ubuyashiki family established the Demon Slayer Corps, and Kagaya is its 97th leader. He is a distant relative of Muzan, and his bloodline is cursed with a disease that slowly kills them before reaching their thirties due to their connection with Muzan's blood. Kagaya's wife, Amane, was chosen by a priest to marry him and agreed to care for him on her own accord. She assists in leading the Corps and was responsible for rescuing and recruiting the Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito. Their children include the twin daughters Hinaki and Nichika, who act as Kagaya's aides during Hashira meetings; their only son Kiriya; and the younger twin daughters Kuina and Kanata. The estate is the site where Kagaya sacrifices himself to weaken Muzan with a suicide bombing, exploiting Muzan's sadistic pleasure in listening to his last words before supposedly killing him. Amane, Hinaki, and Nichika all die in the explosion of the estate due to staying with Kagaya.

In Their Own Story

The estate served as the gathering place where Kagaya Ubuyashiki commanded the Hashira. Despite his frail condition from the curse, he commanded their respect with his gentle but firm demeanor. During meetings, his daughters Hinaki and Nichika would serve as his aides. When Kagaya could not attend, Amane would take his place. The estate's most pivotal moment came when Kagaya orchestrated a suicide bombing to weaken Muzan, knowing the demon would take sadistic pleasure in listening to his last words. Amane, Hinaki, and Nichika chose to remain with him and died in the explosion. Following Kagaya's death, his son Kiriya became his successor, commanding the Demon Slayer Corps from the estate during the final battle against Muzan and his forces. After Muzan's death, Kiriya officially disbanded the Demon Slayer Corps from the estate, as their mission to vanquish him and all demons had been accomplished.
